BacPath9 Meeting

'Molecular analysis of bacterial pathogens'

The 9th BacPath meeting will be held September 23rd to 26th at Mantra Erskine Beach Resort  in Lorne.

Guest speakers include:

Stephen Lory (Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics, Harvard Medical School)
His research focuses on the genome-wide analysis of the evolution of virulence traits of  Pseudomonas aeruginosa that allow it to cause a wide variety of acute and chronic infections and on defining regulatory networks that control gene expression with emphasis on the regulation of virulence genes.

Klaus Aktories (Institute for Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology, University of Freiburg)
His research focuses on cell biology, in particular the interaction between microbial toxins and Rho GTPases. There is a strong emphasis on studying toxins with ADP-ribosyltransferase activity and large clostridial cytotoxins.

Carmen Buchrieser (Genomics of Microbial Pathogens Unit, Institut Pasteur)
Her research is focussed on Legionella pneumophila and Listeria monocytogenes; in particular aspects of genomics, genome evolution, biodiversity and host-pathogen interactions.

Ben Adler (Department of Microbiology, Monash University)
His research involves bacterial pathogenesis, genomics and proteomics. Current research involves the genomics of leptospira, the pathogenesis of Pasteurella infections of poultry, vaccine development in swine dysentery and pathogenesis and immunity in meliodosis.
